10 Things You Learn Inside A Nuclear Bunker

Image
The Nuclear Bunker Experiment might be over but this video, recorded inside the bunker the day before departure into the apocalyptic world, highlighted ten lessons learnt while taking part in the experiment.....

Day 7: Leaving The Nuclear Bunker

Image
Paranoia sets in as uncertainty about what is happening in the outside world. Increasing fear about the underground nuclear bunker being found, forces robmacca to make a bold choice - to return home and retrieve any remaining fresh food and supplies.  A strategy is formulated to avoid detection as martial law has already been imposed to prevent looting at night. The army have been given powers to shoot or detain looters in a desperate act to try and stop anarchy taking over the country after the nuclear bomb detonated 100 miles away in London. What will robmacca discover as he takes the first steps out of the bunker? Is his home safe or has it been damaged in the aftershock? There may be one or two surprises on this perilous journey.......

Day 7: Trying To Survive In The Nuclear Bunker

Image
Scared, afraid and unsure inside the #NuclearBunkerExperiment robmacca begins to question everything. After someone discovered the bunker during the night, is it time to face the radiation filled world or should he remain underground inside the nuclear bunker and hope that no-one comes back to try and get in? Every hour is critical as law and order have broken down following the nuclear bomb blast just a week prior. With society in confusion and a lack of leadership, many have turned to looting for survival. Now homes are being ransacked in the desperate search for food, water and medication.  But even the safety of the nuclear bunker can not stop questions inside the head of robmacca as he battles for survival underground. What if people come back and get inside the bunker? How long will the supplies last? Are the radiation levels safer now?

Day 6: Someone Found The Bunker

Image
Even with martial law imposed across the country, the desperation of the population is leading some to venture outdoors in the search of food and water. Shops have been looted and lives have been lost as anarchy takes over. While radiation levels are dropping after the nuclear bomb blast, it is still not safe to be walking around.  Meanwhile, underground in his nuclear bunker robmacca has been surviving on rations. Waiting for the time when it will be safe to go outdoors once again, tentatively listening to radio broadcast updates while in solitude.  But nowhere is truly safe and in the dead of night robmacca is awakened by the sound of activity above the bunker. Will they break in?

Day 6: Tinned Food In The Nuclear Bunker

Image
With no cooking facilities in the bunker d use to lack of electricity after the nuclear bomb, and not being prepared enough to buy a generator or even have a gas stove - eating meals has become pretty grim during the #NuclearBunkerExperiment.  In the freezing cold you would want a nice hot meal but that is not possible due to lack of being prepared for the sudden nuclear war that has impacted life. Instead, it is now down to surviving with tinned food. But these stocks won't last forever and people outside are starting to go on the search for food ........

Day 6: Martial Law Radio Update

Image
Almost a week since an nuclear bomb detonated in the centre of London and deep inside his nuclear bunker 100 miles away, robmacca is struggling for survival. The isolation and depleting fresh food are beginning to reach critical.  Outside the bunker, looting and anarchy have taken over as civilisation adjusts to the new normal after a nuclear war. Food and water stocks have already been stolen and homes are the next target as people become more and more desperate. What is left of law and order remains on a thread as the government tries to regain control of society and coordinate supplies. But will they be too late? How much longer can robmacca survive inside the nuclear bunker before needing to go back into the nuclear destroyed world?

Day 5: Just Another Armageddon Day!

Image
While the world outside seems to have been blown away by nuclear weapons and it feels like Armageddon - humans would still seek to survive whatever came their way. It's in their nature - history tells us of many such individuals and cultures that survived against all odds. What happens when you've been locked away deep inside a nuclear bunker, cut off from the outside world? As the days pass and isolation sets in, it could be a path of self destruction - unless you are robmacca inside the #NuclearBunkerExperiment. Watch the video and discover snippets from a typical day inside the bunker.

Day 5: Freezing In The Nuclear Bunker

Image
After a nuclear bomb blast, the temperatures suddenly drop as dust clouds cover the sky, blocking the sun. Mix this with the harsh British winter weather and you are set for very cold nights - especially as gas and electric supplies ceased when London was struck in a surprise attack.  Luckily robmacca had been in the mid stage of preparing a bunker for emergencies. While there was food, water and warm clothes - there was no generator yet, not satellite services installed. This means, at times it can be colder in the underground bunker than outside in the radiation filled environment. Isolated inside a small bunker comes with many challenges during the #NuclearBunkerExperiment - but will the freezing temperatures be too much? Watch the video and see the effects of living inside the nuclear bunker......

Day 5: Anarchy Outside The Nuclear Bunker

Image
On Day 4 gunfire and shouting could be heard outside the nuclear bunker and as we enter Day 5, the question remains unanswered - did robmacca survive or was the bunker discovered with all its food content? Life is becoming risky on the outside as lack of water supplies and food quickly run out after the shock nuclear attack. Being tucked underground behind a metal door is no guarantee of safety, but it would be a safer place than on the outside, where risk of radiation remains dangerously high, even after 120 hours. How safe is robmacca inside the #NuclearBunkerExperiment ?  - watch the video to find out if he survived this latest twist. Life for those surviving the sudden nuclear bomb a 100 miles away is already becoming hell on earth as normal daily life has been replaced by anarchy and lawlessness. No electricity (except for generators), petrol stations are now empty and those left alive are forced into a battle for survival. The caring, companionate society has vanished a...

Day 3: Don't Forget Your Toothbrush

Image
With no running water inside the nuclear bunker and no access to the outside world, not even an electric toothbrush to help - simple things like brushing your teeth after an atomic bomb has dropped 100 miles away, becomes more difficult. Limited bottled water test must be used for more important things like drinking, results in little to no waste.  Even toothpaste won't last forever as the means of production are crushed due to the nuclear war.  Survival for the teeth may be a problem in the near future.....

Day 3: Keeping Fit Inside The Nuclear Bunker

Image
Living in a small space of 12 foot by 6 foot, doesn't leave much room for moving around once the space has become filled with a bed and food supplies for the #NuclearBunkerExperiment - it's not like you can just open the door and step outside to roam freely around. The radiation poisoning from the nuclear blast days earlier would still be very hazardous to health.  Not wanting to overdo it and eat more of the food rations nor let his body waste away through lack of movement, robmacca must find a way to balance both. Did he succeed?

Day 3: The Things We Take For Granted

Image
Every day we eat our food, listen to the radio, watch TV, steam music, play games and enjoy good health but a nuclear war changes all that. Life as we know it ends and those things we took for granted vanish under a cloud of poisonous radioactive dust. Think about what you did for breakfast or lunch and how many devices are included in your normal day, then think of what you would have to do if the internet suddenly vanished and all your cloud storage just disappeared. Then the reality of life after the nuclear blasts strikes home......

Day 2: Breakfast Problems In The Nuclear Bunker

Image
Remember when making breakfast was easy in the outside world? Inside the #NuclearBunkerExperiment life is far from easy, even for something as simple as breakfast. So many different factors to consider when you don't have the comforts of the kitchen or electricity. After the nuclear war, it's not like you can pop to the supermarket and stock up on fresh morning goods. Life inside the bunker will get harder as the fresh fruit is eaten and the bread becomes mouldy but robmacca, armed with a sharp knife, aims to make the most of his breakfast without causing himself an injury (there might not be any medical staff available after he resurfaces into the real world!)

Day 2: Radio Announcement In The Nuclear Bunker

Image
Apart from the lack of caffeine and hot drinks, robmacca has been missing listening to the radio. Suddenly he remembers there is a radio inside the nuclear bunker that had been put there for such a time as this. Has he got batteries though? There is no electricity working since the nuclear bomb dropped 2 days ago, it's still not safe to venture outside because of radiation but can the radio provide some sort of comfort during these dark days? Tune in and find out......

Day 1: Bedtime In The Nuclear Bunker

Image
As the first day inside the Nuclear Bunker comes to a close, the panic and despair are replaced with the practical realities of sleep and warmth. But with near freezing temperatures inside the #NuclearBunkerExperiment it is sure to be a challenge.

Day 1: Panic Sets In

Image
Although safe inside the nuclear bunker, safe from the radiation falling outside after a 100mt nuclear bomb dropped in the centre of London - the harsh reality of the disaster strikes home. Soon despair, guilt and panic take control, leaving robmacca to feel hopeless and helpless. These feelings will hinder hopes of survival if they set in. Can he overcome the feelings in order to survive or will those feelings become his downfall? This video from the early hours inside the #nuclearbunkerexperiment reveals just what it is like to be locked away from the world........

Day 1: Food For Thought

Image
The reality of life and survival inside the bunker, safe from the fall out from the exploded nuclear bomb, hit home. Questions arise and emotions are still raw since the world changed just hours ago. The mind turns to living though the most dangerous days of high radiation and concentrating on survival. Prepping before hand has come in handy, even grabbing food during the final minutes on the outside have helped. Watch and discover the first food eaten inside the bunker......

Lights, I Need Lights!

Image
Darkness fills the bunker as the electricity cuts out when a nuclear bomb detonates. Panic and shock quickly sets in, until the realisation that lights are needed.  Without electricity, it's going to be hard to light up the bunker. The preparation over the previous weeks will now become a practical reality. Find out what lighting will help towards survival inside the Nuclear Bunker.......

Its The End Of The World!

Image
"This is it, this is the end of the world as we know it," is a line bellowing out in the video in the final minutes before a nuclear bomb strikes 100 miles away at the heart of London, England. What started out as a friend's video calling would soon escalate into the onset of World War 3 as world leaders take swift action. The countdown is on, will there be enough time to make it to the bunker? Watch the video as The Nuclear Bunker Experiment begins......

Don't Accidentally Poison Yourself!

Image
Living in a bunker to escape disasters could still end up with accidental death if you don't have proper ventilation installed (especially during a nuclear war). We still have to breathe but that means carbon monoxide could become dangerously high within a confined, unventilated space. One simple action that could save your life, would be fitting a battery operated carbon monoxide alarm. At least then you could become aware of the dangers before they become potentially fatal. The alarm would also detect carbon monoxide from gas cooking appliances, thus warning you of any danger and allowing you to find a solution.
