Day 7: Leaving The Nuclear Bunker



Paranoia sets in as uncertainty about what is happening in the outside world. Increasing fear about the underground nuclear bunker being found, forces robmacca to make a bold choice - to return home and retrieve any remaining fresh food and supplies. 

A strategy is formulated to avoid detection as martial law has already been imposed to prevent looting at night. The army have been given powers to shoot or detain looters in a desperate act to try and stop anarchy taking over the country after the nuclear bomb detonated 100 miles away in London.

What will robmacca discover as he takes the first steps out of the bunker?
Is his home safe or has it been damaged in the aftershock?

There may be one or two surprises on this perilous journey.......

  The Nuclear Bunker Experiment is an endurance exercise by robmacca. The plan is to survive inside a bunker as though a nuclear bomb has detonated. A 100,000 megaton nuke 'detonates' in London, England causing six million deaths and another six million people suffering from injuries. Portaloo, How Does It Feel You Won The Nuclear War?!

Being prepared for the worst disasters is half the battle, having somewhere to go to the toilet while trying to survive inside a nuclear bunker would be another battle! I've splashed out (no pun) on a 20 litre portable toilet, because if a disaster struck, I'd want to be able to do a number 2 with as much dignity as possible. No running water or electricity would mean taps, toilets and essential appliances may cease to work. Outdoors it would be less of a problem as we would easily find places to go but locked away deep inside a bunker with limited space adds new problems. The portaloo is a good investment for the bunker and can be used for camping holidays or handy as a bedside toilet in old age!

My Survival Kit

In order to survive something like a nuclear blast, you really need to prepare beforehand (and be incredibly lucky to be in the right place at the right time!). Here inside my bunker, I am preparing for a 'just in case' scenario. This video highlights some of the things I am including for my emergency bunker. There are many other items I've not yet purchased but I'm hoping to be ready before that dreadful day.
